Summary
QNP does not collect, sell, or share personal data. It has no QNP account, advertising, tracking, in-app analytics, or developer-operated note service. Note editing, Markdown formatting, selecting by title in the Open Note picker, and window controls happen locally on your Mac. In the Mac App Store edition, Apple’s iCloud service synchronizes notes and note backgrounds between Macs signed in to the same Apple Account; the developer cannot access that private iCloud data. The free direct-download edition uses local-only storage and does not connect to iCloud.
Notes and automatic saving
QNP stores each note as UTF-8 Markdown inside the app’s local, sandboxed Application Support folder. The text you enter, note titles derived from that text, and the saved Markdown files are never sent to the developer.
The Mac App Store edition also saves a synchronized copy in your private iCloud Drive container so the note can appear on your other compatible Macs. Apple operates iCloud under your Apple Account and Apple’s terms and privacy policy. The free direct-download edition does not use iCloud and keeps notes only on the Mac where it is installed.
QNP currently applies an 8 MB safety limit to each note. If no notes exist, QNP creates a new local note so the app does not start with an empty workspace.
Clipboard actions
When you choose Copy or Paste, QNP reads from or writes to the macOS system clipboard only to complete that action. QNP does not monitor clipboard changes, create a clipboard history, or send clipboard contents to the developer.
Markdown and note display
Markdown highlighting, colored hashtags, optional symbol hiding, word, character, and line counters, note titles, backgrounds, quick sizes, window positions, always-on-top behavior, and note visibility are processed locally.
QNP stores window size, position, visibility, and general display preferences in its sandboxed local container. These settings stay specific to each Mac. In the Mac App Store edition, the selected background for each note syncs through your private iCloud account. The free direct-download edition keeps backgrounds local. None of this information is used to profile you or sent to the developer.
Exports
QNP writes an exported Markdown, plain-text, or rich-text file only after you choose a destination through the standard macOS save panel. The exported file remains at the location you chose and is not uploaded by QNP.
Printing
When you print one note or all notes, QNP prepares the content locally and passes it to the standard macOS printing system. Any printer, PDF workflow, or print service you select is handled by macOS and that destination. The developer does not receive the printed note content.
Open at Login
If you enable Open at Login, QNP asks the macOS Service Management system to launch the app when you sign in. The preference remains on your Mac and can be changed in QNP or in macOS System Settings.
Storage and iCloud sync by edition
The Mac App Store edition uses Apple’s iCloud Drive and iCloud key-value storage to synchronize note text, note availability, deletion state, and note backgrounds across compatible Macs using the same Apple Account. QNP keeps a local mirror so you can continue writing while offline. If simultaneous edits are detected, QNP preserves a conflict copy instead of silently discarding text. A note deleted on another Mac is also preserved in a local Recovered Notes folder before its local working copy is removed.
The free direct-download edition does not use iCloud; its notes and note backgrounds will remain local to the Mac unless you deliberately export or print them.
External links and website counters
Apart from the Mac App Store edition’s use of Apple’s iCloud system, QNP does not send note data over the network. If you choose its Website, Privacy, or Support link, macOS opens the address in your default web browser. Your browser and the destination website handle that visit under their own settings and policies.
When you visit the QNP page on this website, the website uses a signed anonymous visitor identifier to count no more than one qualified QNP page visit within each hourly window. The website’s optional public rating and comment section stores only information you deliberately submit. These systems do not collect your email address and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Data retention and deletion
QNP does not store note data on developer-operated servers, so there is no developer-held note data to retain or delete. Local notes and settings remain on your Mac until you delete them in QNP or remove the app and its local container. In the Mac App Store edition, synchronized notes also remain in your iCloud account and follow your iCloud storage and deletion controls. Deleting a note in QNP synchronizes that deletion between Macs. The free direct-download edition keeps its notes only in local storage. Exported, printed, conflict, and recovery copies remain wherever they were created until you remove them.
Children’s privacy
QNP does not knowingly collect personal information from children or anyone else.
Changes to this policy
If QNP’s data practices change, this policy and any applicable App Store privacy information will be updated before the changed version is distributed.
