- Create a shortcut or open the preset where you want to add one.
- Choose the keyboard, modifier, mouse, or scroll trigger you want QKB to recognize.
- Assign the action and decide whether it should work globally or only inside a particular app.
- Enable the shortcut and test it while QKB is running.
Required macOS permissions
QKB uses Input Monitoring to recognize configured global triggers. It uses the permission shown by macOS under Accessibility to send only the shortcut output you configure.
If a shortcut does not run, open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, and confirm QKB is enabled under Input Monitoring and Accessibility. If you changed either permission, quit and reopen QKB.
If a shortcut does not run
Confirm the shortcut and its preset are enabled, then check whether another app or macOS already uses the same trigger. For an app-specific shortcut, make sure the intended app is the active app when you test it.
Importing and exporting presets
QKB preset files use the .qkbpreset extension. Choose the preset file through the standard macOS file panel when importing, or choose a writable destination when exporting.
